Deadpool & Wolverine will be hitting theaters in no time and excitement is at an all-time high. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are making their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all eyes are on the film, rightly so. While actors are returning to their iconic characters, with one of them coming out of retirement, it looks like there is someone else who will take the cake for the film’s MVP.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Director Shawn Levy has a string of unforgettable projects under his name including Free Guy, Real Steel, the Night at the Museum films, and the most recent, The Adam’s Project. But as far as comic book writer Rob Liefeld is concerned, Deadpool 3 is Shawn Levy’s biggest masterpiece yet where the filmmaker shines brighter than even the lead actors.

Shawn Levy is Deadpool & Wolverine’s MVP

Comic book writer Rob Liefeld has been credited with a ton of iconic work for Marvel Comics and is responsible for the creation of the fan-favorite character, Deadpool. Therefore, anything he has to say about the upcoming Deadpool 3 undoubtedly holds a lot of weight.

While everything about the film so far has only received positive feedback from fans, there are still some worries amongst the Deadpool fandom given Marvel Cinematic Universe’s recent slump. However, thanks to Liefeld’s latest comments about the film, fans can now sit back, relax, and take a sigh of relief.

Everyone is obviously very excited to see Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman return to their iconic characters and team up for a common goal. These two actors are of course the biggest selling points when it comes to Deadpool 3 but for Liefeld, it is director Shawn Levy who emerges as the film’s MVP.

He recently took to X to applaud the filmmaker for his fabulous work on the upcoming superhero flick. Liefeld praised Levy’s work in the industry before adding “…but Deadpool Wolverine is next level for him.” He went on to state that every single shot in the film is “perfect” and even though he has been a successful filmmaker for the last twenty years, it is Deadpool 3 that is going to turn all the heads around.

Let me tell you, the MVP of Deadpool Wolverine is going to be Shawn Levy. We took our kids to all the Night At The Museum films. This is a huge compliment since it is coming from the creator of Deadpool himself. Thanks to other updates and words like these, the hype for Deadpool 3 just keeps growing more and more!

Ryan Reynolds Wouldn’t Have Done Deadpool 3 Without Shawn Levy

It looks like Reynolds knew right from the start that Levy would go on to do wonders for the film. In a recent interview with Deadline, the filmmaker revealed that the Red Notice actor told him that he wouldn’t return to play Deadpool in the third film if Levy didn’t direct.

He stated, It was on the set of Adam Project that Ryan told me he only wanted to do Deadpool 3 if I directed it. And I remember him going, ‘I know, I know, you’re going to say no.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna say no. I’m definitely saying yes.’

This was even before Jackman decided to board the Deadpool 3 bandwagon, which according to Levy was the greatest gift imaginable.

And that was before I knew we would get the greatest gift imaginable for a Deadpool movie, which is Hugh Jackman saying, ‘I’m in. I want in.’

While this is Levy’s third collaboration with Reynolds after Free Guy and The Adam Project, he also worked with Jackman in Real Steel (2011).
