Apparently, Meghan is facing backlash — and a possible lawsuit — for using the late Queen to market her jam!

Apparently, Meghan is facing backlash—and potential legal action—for her new logo, which bears striking similarities to the coat of arms of Porres, a small Spanish town.

The town of Porres is considering legal action against Meghan, accusing her of copying their traditional coat of arms for her rebranded luxury lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Both designs feature a palm tree with two birds on either side. The town’s coat of arms is vibrant, with orange and green colors, while Meghan’s logo is more subdued, using dark gray and white.

Francisca Mora, the mayor of Porres, told a local newspaper, “The likeness is surreal. The town hall is deciding whether or not to take legal action against The Duchess.” She added, “I don’t know if she visited some agro-tourism sites and saw the coat of arms, because the photo on her website is taken from Málaga.”

Porres, a picturesque Mediterranean town with cobblestone streets and historic buildings, has a population of just 5,000 people. It’s not exactly a global hotspot, but it’s become a moderately popular tourist destination in recent years. So, did Meghan visit? Did someone on her team stumble upon the coat of arms and think, “Hey, this would make a great logo!”? Or is this just another case of Meghan’s team failing to do their homework?

Of course, Meghan’s team has an explanation. They claim the logo was “intentionally designed as a tribute to Prince Harry.” The palm tree is a nod to their home in California, and the two hummingbirds are a favorite of Harry’s. According to insiders, “The distinct shape enclosing the birds and tree was intentionally designed to create a unique and personal emblem.”

But let’s be real—does anyone actually believe this? Harry likes hummingbirds? Since when? Did Meghan just decide one day, “You know what, Harry? You’re a hummingbird guy now.”? It feels like yet another attempt to tie everything she does back to the royal family.

In his memoir, Spare, Harry did mention hummingbirds. Towards the end of the book, he reflected on finding a hummingbird in his house after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. He wrote about how the bird is interpreted as a symbol of spirits in some cultures. So, sure, maybe the hummingbirds are a nod to the Queen. But does that justify copying a town’s coat of arms?

This isn’t the first time Meghan has faced accusations of copying. Her brand has already undergone multiple rebrands, and each time, it seems to come with a new controversy. You’d think her team would have learned by now to double-check their designs for potential legal issues.

The town of Porres is hoping this incident will at least bring them some recognition. Mayor Mora said, “I hope many people around the world will become more aware that Málaga is an inland town that has this coat of arms.” So, maybe Meghan will reach out to the town and offer some sort of collaboration or promotion to smooth things over. Or maybe she’ll just ignore it and hope it goes away.

In other news, Meghan has teased her first product for American Riviera Orchard—some sort of honey or jam set to launch in the spring. The teaser features calligraphy and vague, inspirational quotes like “Stay close to people who feel like sunshine” and “Happiness looks gorgeous on you.” It’s all very… underwhelming.

The product launch is supposed to coincide with the debut of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, on March 4th. But will the honey/jam be available at the Netflix stores opening in King of Prussia, PA, and Dallas, TX? I’m curious to see if Meghan’s brand will have a presence there. If anyone’s planning to visit, hit me up—I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Meghan Markle’s American Riviera Orchard is off to a rocky start. From the logo controversy to the vague product teasers, it feels like she’s trying too hard to create a brand that’s both personal and marketable. But instead of authenticity, we’re getting more drama and questionable decisions
