Who’s in the Trunk? The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3’s Jaw-Dropping Cliffhanger Explained!

The Lincoln Lawyer season three ended with a huge cliffhanger but who was the body in Mickey Haller’s trunk?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Lincoln Lawyer.

The Lincoln Lawyer season three ending left fans stunned by who was in the back of Mickey Haller’s car?

The hit Netflix drama returned after over a year for its third installment, once again consisting of 10 episodes.

In this season, the charming lawyer Mickey Haller (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) is tasked with defending his client Julian La Cosse, played by Devon Graye, who stands accused of murdering Gloria Dayton (Fiona Rene).

By the conclusion of the third season, Mickey had successfully kept Julian out of jail and was riding high, celebrating the victory at an afterparty. However, it’s what transpired post-party that has Netflix subscribers buzzing, reports the Mirror.

While driving home, Mickey was pulled over by a police officer who requested the vehicle’s registration, license, and insurance papers due to a missing license plate.

But then, the officer noticed blood dripping from the side of his car and asked Mickey to open the trunk, where a dead body was discovered.

Who was in Mickey Haller’s trunk?

The Lincoln Lawyer season three ended with the unexpected discovery of the body of Mickey’s former client Sam Scales, played by Christopher Thornton, in the trunk.

Sam made his debut in the first season of the Netflix drama when he was taken to court for fraudulently creating a cancer charity to swindle money from people.

Despite being caught, he didn’t learn his lesson and ran another charity scam in the courtroom called Homes4youth.com, asking for donations for foster children.

Sam was later seen with another suspected scam, this time collecting money for service animals for veterans.

The Lincoln Lawyer season one featured scammer Sam Scales whose body showed up in Mickey Haller's car at the end of season three.

Mickey had previously made a joke about killing Sam in front of an audience, which could now be used as evidence against him since his former client has turned up dead.

So, will Mickey end up behind bars for a murder he didn’t commit, or will he manage to defend himself successfully?

Fortunately, the tale isn’t finished yet, as the streaming platform has already confirmed The Lincoln Lawyer for a fourth season.
