A new Emily in Paris season 5 casting update has confirmed one star will return as a series regular, after being in a recurring role throughout season 4. Emily in Paris season 4 ended by revealing Emily (Lily Collins) is relocating to Rome, both for her work and because of her new relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). While this seemingly ended her budding romance with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), he was given encouragement by Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) to go to Italy in order to pursue his heart.
Now, Deadline has confirmed that Lucien Laviscount will be returning as Alfie in a series regular capacity during Emily in Paris season 5. This will be the first time the star has been a series regular on the show since season 3, having recurred as Emily’s secondary – and sometimes tertiary – love interest in seasons 2 and 4. His re-upping to main cast status means he’ll have a major part to play in the main character’s Rome storyline, either as a love interest or within Antoine’s (William Abadie) business.
The article also confirmed a tentative filming start window of April 2025.
What Alfie’s Series Regular Status Means For Emily In Paris Season 5
He’s Going To Be A Key Part Of The Next Chapter
As of season 4, Alfie is in a relationship with someone else, meaning it’s unlikely he’s going to show up in order to rekindle his lost flame with Emily. However, his arrival in Rome is seemingly going to coincide with Gabriel’s, the show’s original major love interest trying to win the title character back after their recent breakup. While the results of his efforts remain unclear, it seems Emily in Paris season 5 could finally offer a definitive answer about their relationship, and whether they’re really going to get back together after so many opportunities.
But Alfie is probably going to be more than just a supporting figure for Gabriel, likely having his own coinciding story taking place in Rome. Whether other characters in Emily in Pariswill be involved in his journey remains to be seen, but it’s clear he has plenty of routes for development, whether it be through his personal life, or moving up in his professional career. His relocation to Italy might also come with new challenges, especially if he gets roped into major storylines that have yet to be revealed.
Our Take On Alfie’s Bigger Role For Emily In Paris Season 5
It Makes Sense To Bring Him Back Into The Fold
Although the exact story of Emily in Paris season 5 remains a mystery, the show’s inclusion of Alfie makes sense, giving him a much-needed larger role moving forward. While he’s switched back and forth between being a main character and a recurring one, this push to the forefront will help drive his story forward in exciting ways not seen since season 3. With plenty of potential for whatever’s next, it seems his involvement with Emily and Gabriel’s potential reunion will bring him a creative new story moving forward.
