Hugh Jackman. The man known for bringing the character of Wolverine alive has been alleged to retire from the character after Deadpool & Wolverine. However, not all hope is lost.

Before delving into the finer details, we wish to tell you that these are just speculations and cannot be confirmed or denied at the moment. With that being said, Hugh Jackman might not ‘completely’ retire from the role of Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman Has Still Got It In Him

To delve into this theory, we need to go back to the time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe announced the concept of the Multiverse. Different characters, merging storylines, and, intertwining fates are all a part of this ever-expanding universe.

The MCU has also used this concept to bring some fresh faces to pre-existing characters such as John Krasinski in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror and the hundreds of variants that he had.

But to introduce all these characters, concepts, and parallel words, it must lead to some sort of conclusion. Well, the upcoming Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ film Deadpool & Wolverine might just tear a hole in this multiverse.

It has been indeed theorized that the multiverse is going to get breached at some point. With Deadpool bringing in Wolverine from the FoxVerse, all the characters from the X-Men franchise will soon make their way over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But, this decision could ultimately help Hugh Jackman and the allegations that he is going to retire from the character after Deadpool & Wolverine. The answer to the question ‘How?’ lies in a 2014 interview.

Hugh Jackman Will Probably End Up Doing It

And what we mean by that is that back in 2014, Hugh Jackman sat in an interview while he was talking about X-Men: Days of Future Past. During the interview, Jackman was asked an interesting question.

As he sat down for a talk with SlashFilm, Jackman was asked whether he would portray multiple variants of Wolverine since that was in the comic books in the future.

The actor had an iconic answer which gave hope to the millions of fans that he wouldn’t retire on the character of Wolverine.

I’ll probably end up doing it… “Shut up, Bub!” “Who said Bub?” “I said Bub…” Who knows? I’m fully aware that people will hear [this Days of Future Past] idea and think, ‘Ah, they’ve just come up with a way to bring everybody together’ right?

He further continued, And the great thing is, I don’t have to sell it because I know the storyline is phenomenal.

So, this could potentially mean that Hugh Jackman might retire from the original role of Wolverine. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the actor has to leave the character completely.

Now, this could prove to be true or we are just afraid of seeing a world without Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in it. Whatever the case may be, the actor is currently set to reprise his role when Deadpool & Wolverine releases on 26 July in theaters across the U.S.
