Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Introduces Mind-Blowing Zombies Upgrades!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 reveals Zombies update features.

More information has been revealed about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s upcoming Season 2 update, including several new features fans of the game’s Zombies mode won’t want to miss. This news dropped as part of a new tease for Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which is right around the corner.

Over a decade after its initial launch in World at War, Zombies continues to be one of Call of Duty‘s most popular and prominent offerings, something that continues in Black Ops 6. Not only is round-based Zombies back in Black Ops 6, but Treyarch seems keen on developing enthralling and immersive new locations for players to explore, with the game on the cusp of making several changes that seek to improve the mode even further.

While Season 2 will bring a ton of changes for multiplayer fans to dig into, Zombies will be getting some attention as well. Aside from Black Ops 6‘s new Tomb map, Zombies fans will have a whole plate of new features to use and hopefully enjoy, ranging from UI improvements to other highly-requested additions. Among these new features is a co-op pause option, which allows those in the same party to pause the game together. Pausing and saving in Zombies is one of the new features introduced with Black Ops 6, with co-op pausing being requested for quite some time.

Challenge Tracking & Near Completion (Zombies and Multiplayer)

Manually track up to 10 Calling Card Challenges and 10 Camo Challenges per mode to easily keep track of Challenges you’re progressing.
If you have less than 10 Calling Card Challenges or 10 Camo Challenges tracked, your nearest Challenges to completion will display in those slots instead. This should help players discover and identify Challenges they are close to completing.
The top Tracked or Near Completion Calling Card Challenge and Camo Challenge both appear in the Lobby, as well as in-game via the Options Menu.

Co-op Pause

In matches where everyone is in the same party, the party leader will now be able to pause the game for everyone to regroup on strategy or take a snack break during those high-round runs. We know this one’s been requested since launch, and we’re excited to get it in with S02.

AFK Kick Loadout Recovery

If a player gets kicked for going AFK in a co-op game, now they’ll be able to rejoin and restore their loadout.

Separate HUD Presets for Zombies and Multiplayer

At last, you’ll be able to set up the HUD Preset settings you prefer for Zombies and keep an entirely different setup for MP without having to change them between modes.
We wanted to get this one in sooner, but the team needed to refocus on higher priorities as they came up.

Alongside this new pause feature is something Call of Duty calls “AFK Kick Loadout Recovery,” which essentially acts as a way for players who get booted from matches for being inactive, a way to rejoin and keep their original loadout. Progression is one of the most important parts of a Black Ops 6 Zombies run, and as such, losing weapons, perks, and points can be a huge roadblock. This feature seeks to limit frustrations felt by players who were kicked from games either prematurely or for reasons out of their control.

Players will also soon have the ability to create separate HUD presets for multiplayer and Zombies, cutting out on the annoyance of having to adjust the settings when switching modes. Finally, players will have the ability to manually track up to 10 Calling Card Challenges and Camo Challengers for both multiplayer and Zombies, making progressing through Black Ops 6‘s rather large collection of cards easier and more user-friendly. Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on January 28, 2025.
