Ozzy Osbourne’s family gathered for his private burial service today (July 31), nine days after the iconic rock star died on July 22 at the age of 76. This followed his funeral procession yesterday on Wednesday, July 30 which took place in front of a crowd of mourners that Birmingham City Council said stretched for more than a mile and was made up of tens of thousands.

Ozzy is being laid to rest in the grounds of his £20m, 250-acre estate in Buckinghamshire today. The former hellraiser will be buried next to his ornamental lake. The private affair is extremely star-studded as Ozzy’s famous friends all want to pay their last respects. His Black Sabbath bandmates are all in attendance, as are Metallica stars James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo. Yungblud, who wowed the crowd with his version of Ozzy’s classic song Changes at the Back to the Beginning concert, is also on the guest list. However close pal Sir Elton John is among those not in attendance.

Pictures from the site show security on the gates to prevent unwanted guests attempting to enter the private service.

Sharon Osbourne was overcome with emotion on Wednesday as she and her children, Aimee, 41, Kelly, 40, and Jack, 39, put on a united front to visit the sprawling memorial site at Ozzy’s hometown of Birmingham. They were joined by Ozzy’s son Louis, 50, from his first marriage.

In the days since the Black Sabbath star’s tragic death, fans have flocked to the band’s dedicated bench in the town centre to lay flowers and tributes for the late Paranoid singer.

The journey, which included a drive past Ozzy’s childhood home, saw a tearful Sharon and her children exit the car to lay flowers and thank the thousands of fans who chanted: “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy.”

The former talent show judge struggled to fight back tears and was held up by Jack and Kelly and appeared fragile as she descended from an SUV, wearing a simple long black dress with long sleeves.

She touchingly accessorised with a long chain with Ozzy’s wedding ring attached to it.

The pair had celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on July 4, just weeks before his tragic death.
