The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is AMC’s sixth spinoff of The Walking Dead, featuring the continued stories of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). The series was recently released on Netflix in an ongoing partnership between the streamer and AMC. Several new characters were introduced in this series; which ones were the best?

One of the most exciting things about TWD spinoffs is that, in addition to continued stories of our favorite characters, viewers are also introduced to several new ones. TOWL did an incredible job featuring stories of some familiar faces with some interesting new ones.

The five best new characters on The Ones Who Live

Nat – played by Matthew Jeffers

Matthew Jeffers won the hearts of viewers with his no-nonsense approach to life and his fondness for Michonne. He is a brilliant man who met life with a realistic view. Although he had a hard exterior, he was kind and helpful and showed his humorous side to his small circle of friends.

Jeffers is known for his role as Dr. Mark Walsh in New Amsterdam. His other roles include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Unidentified Objects, The Blacklist, and more.

Bailey – played by Andrew Bachelor aka King Bach

Andrew Bachelor first appeared as Bailey in Michonne’s final episode in season 10 of the main series. He returns in The Ones Who Live as a member the Nomads, a caravan of survivors. He is fiercely loyal to his friends and most especially his girlfriend Aiden.

Bachelor, whose stage name is King Bach, is known for his roles in The Babysitter, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Fifty Shades of Black, and more. He rose to fame by being the most-followed user on the former video sharing service Vine.

Aiden – played by Breeda Wool

Breeda Wool also appeared in Michonne’s final episode as Aiden. She was assisting her boyfriend Bailey, who injured his ankle while trying to find honey for her. She greatly appreciated Michonne’s help and vowed to help her find Rick.

Wool is known for her roles in National Treasure: Edge of History, UnReal, Mr. Mercedes, and more.

Lt. Col. Donald Okafor – played by Craig Tate

Craig Tate portrayed Lt. Col. Donald Okafor of the CRM. He was a courageous man who although loyal to the organization saw its flaws and wanted to help make changes for the better. He quickly sees potential in Rick and shares his dreams for the future of the CRM.

Tate is known for his roles in 12 Years a Slave, King Richard, Greyhound, and more.

Esteban Garcia – played by Frankie Quinones

Frankie Quinones portrayed the lighthearted and friendly Esteban Garcia. He was a good friend to Rick to added some needed comic relief to Rick’s dire situation. Although he was extremely loyal to the Civic Republic, he did assist Rick in his final attempt to escape.

Quinones is best known for his stand up comedy and his role as Creeper in his sketch comedy webseries Cholofit. He also starred in Hulu’s comedy series The Fool.

The Worst character on The Ones Who Live

Terry O’Quinn did an incredible job in his portrayal of Major General Beale. He was a powerful authority figure in the CRM who carried out brutal acts which caused the deaths of over 100,000 people. He saw much potential in Rick but his ideals were something Rick could never support, pitting them against one another.

He is best known for his portrayal of John Locke in Lost. He has also appeared in The Stepfather, The Rocketeer, Young Guns, Tombstone, and more.
