Beau DeMayo Calls Out Marvel and Disney for Ignoring His Contribution to X-Men ‘97 Despite Resurrecting One of the Best Shows for the Studio

Beau DeMayo, despite the success his X-Men ’97 brought to Marvel and Disney, has not been invited to the most prestigious TV award show.

While Fox largely made Wolverine a very popular character in the mainstream, other characters in the X-Men franchise were largely relegated to secondary character status. However, under Marvel Animation, Beau DeMayo was able to revitalize the IP completely, bringing these characters to the forefront and turning in a superhero tour de force at a time when other studios were also busy releasing bangers like Invincible and The Boys.

However, despite the many nominations and awards that might be on the way for Disney and Marvel thanks to the show, series creator Beau DeMayo has revealed to audiences on Twitter that he has not yet received any invitation from either the House of Mouse or its comics division to attend the Emmys.

Beau DeMayo’s snub is in poor taste, fans believe

Despite receiving a lot of critical and audience acclaim for his work on X-Men ’97, the showrunner and head writer of the series found himself removed from Dinsey just days before the show’s premiere, with no explanation from the House of Mouse about the situation behind the scenes.

Beau DeMayo took to his Twitter earlier today to talk about his snub for an invite to the Emmys, despite his team reaching out to Disney to get an update regarding the same.

It is still largely unclear why Beau DeMayo was expelled from Disney. It was rumored that the writer was ‘difficult’ to work with, with a slew of other rumors and hearsay informing the discourse around the firing. DeMayo has informed audiences that he has written most of Season 1 and Season 2, with Season 3 also allegedly mapped out.

Beau DeMayo’s Blade film pitch might be too hot for Disney to keep old grudges

Fans loved Wesley Snipes' return as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine | Marvel Studios

After singlehandedly making the X-Men relevant again, Beau DeMayo has a brilliant pitch for a Logan-style send-off for Blade, who was arguably the progenitor of superhero films for Marvel, with his first film being the proof of concept for a Marvel character carrying a lucrative film by themselves.

DeMayo’s pitch has the film take place in a post-apocalyptic vampire dystopia, where Brother Voodoo resurrects an entombed Blade to fight the vampire scourge and save humanity, all in the styles and aesthetics of Akira Kurosawa.

After the dialogue in Deadpool & Wolverine, where Wesley Snipes declared himself as the only Blade, and Mahershala Ali’s iteration of the character being “in limbo”, a fourth film that serves to wrap up Wesley’s time with the character sounds perfect. Especially given that Marvel Studios has managed to bring in a slew of films into its fold with the Multiverse Saga and Disney purchasing Fox Studios.

X-Men ’97 Season 1 is streaming on Disney+

Deadpool & Wolverine is currently in theatres.
