The founder and owner of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, is not shy of buying the most expensive real estate properties across the US. With his net worth accumulating to 77.4 billion USD as of now, he’s put his money to good use when it comes to real estate holdings. Zuckerberg has spent a total of $320M getting his hands on luxurious properties that are second to none.
Zuckerburg has held his position as one of the richest people on the planet, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that many of his current homes are mansion-like properties upgraded with the latest innovations.
The Zuckerbergs seem to have a preference for privacy as the neighboring homes to the main property are also often bought by him.
The following are some of Mark’s most extravagant real estate properties:
1. Palo Alto, California
One of the earliest Zuckerberg properties, Meta’s CEO initially bought this property for a mere $7M in 2011. This modest 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom, 5600 sq. ft. property served as a home for the newly wedded couple at the time. Shortly afterward, with Facebook’s expanding success, Zuckerberg took the opportunity to buy the full 1.83 acres for $50.8M, including the yards surrounding the primary structure. Today, the house encompasses 20,000 sq. ft., 15 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, along with great modern amenities like a swimming pool, a sunroom, an entertainment pavilion, a spa, a barbecue area, and a fireplace.
2. Kauai, Hawaii
Zuckerberg definitely is a fan of Hawaii through and through; at least, that’s what his recent real estate investments depict. A hefty 200+ million USD was spent on 1400 acres of Hawaiian land, indicating that the family intends to spend their vacations riding the waves. The very first investments went through in 2014 when Mark spent $116M on Pila’a beach and Kahu’aina plantation along with a 6100 sq. ft. house. In 2017, he bought another 89 acres for $45.3 million, including 12 kulena parcels – land that is only meant to be passed down to generations of native Hawaiians – despite public backlash. The couple didn’t stop there, but added another 600 acres to their real estate holdings for an additional 53 million dollars last year.
3. Lake Tahoe, California
A celebrity favorite spot and home to local events like the Lake Tahoe summer music festival, Zuckerberg spent $59M in 2018 on the dual Lake Tahoe estates – Brushwood and Carousel. The properties add up to 10 acres of land combined. Within these 10 acres, the Brushwood estate is located on a 5300 sq. ft. area encompassing 6-bedrooms and 5-bathrooms. That’s not all, though! This property is as luxurious as it comes, with 400 feet of an astounding lakefront, combined with a private pier, patio, and garage. Meanwhile, the Carousel takes up 3.5 acres with 8-bedrooms and 9-bathrooms. This property, too, has a lakefront, pier, and garage, as well as a guesthouse and caretaker’s apartment.
4. Dolores Heights, San Francisco
As mentioned before, Zuckerberg is adamant about his and his family’s privacy, including pictures of his real estate properties, especially this one. In November 2021, Mark decided to buy this historic townhouse of San Francisco for $10M. Another $1.8M was added to the investments for renovation purposes to upgrade the home according to Zuckerberg family standards. What is known from property records is that the four-floor property is on 0.22 acres with a total of 23 rooms. Major renovations back in 1928 included exterior repairs, roof replacement, kitchen, and bathroom remodeling, installing air conditioning, and making the property hazard safe.
