Also included: Baby Reindeer, Squid Game, and everything in between.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year — awards season, that is. And this year, people deeply connected with the many acclaimed movies and series that earned recognition as Golden Globes nominees. Strong women were front and center, as the musical crime drama Emilia Pérez — starring Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, and Selena Gomez — received 10 nominations. This is Gascón’s first Golden Globe nomination — Gascón also made history as the first trans actor nominated in a Motion Picture category. And Emilia Pérez made history as the most nominated film in the Musical or Comedy category in Golden Globes history.
Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie’s stunning performance in Maria didn’t go unrecognized — she received a nomination for Best Female Actor in a drama film, and Keri Russell was nominated for Best Female Actor in a Television Series for her role in The Diplomat.
A few series also stood out this year: Javier Bardem received a nomination for the role of José Menendez in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. And Baby Reindeer, the thriller about a struggling comedian who finds himself navigating a female stalker, earned three nominations of its own. Plus, Squid Game got the green light, receiving a nomination for Best Drama Series.
There may be plenty of drama in this year’s nominees, but there’s always room for laughs, too. Glen Powell was nominated for Best Male Actor in a comedy movie for his portrayal of Gary in Hit Man. And speaking of comedies, Golden Globes voters loved Adam Sandler, nominating him for his stand-up comedy special Love You.
This also marks the first Golden Globe nominations for Saldaña, Powell, Monsters star Cooper Koch, Baby Reindeer’s Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning, Adam Brody of Nobody Wants This, and Ripley’s Dakota Fanning.
Netflix led all studios and networks, receiving 36 nominations this year. Read on for the full list, and tune in to the 82nd Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 5 starting at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST on CBS.

This journey has enriched me in every way imaginable and to see it resonate so deeply with so many is an indescribable feeling. Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl: “It’s an absolute honor to see our film nominated for a Golden Globe, and to be recognized alongside some of the most prestigious names in animation. We are really proud of the whole crew and team in Bristol.”
Ted Danson, A Man on the Inside: “Thank you Golden Globes, thank you Netflix and Universal, and thank you Michael Schur for creating A Man On The Inside. Working with you is one of the great joys in my life.”
Richard Gadd, Baby Reindeer: “I am beyond thrilled that Baby Reindeer has been nominated for three Golden Globes. Almost every year, I have watched the event hoping that one day I might be there in the audience, sitting among the industry’s finest, getting roasted on an international scale. So it is a dream come true. Thanks to the Golden Globes for all they have done in championing the show. My sincere gratitude to Netflix for taking a chance on it, Clerkenwell Films for their enormous efforts in producing it, and all the amazing cast and crew who worked tirelessly to bring the best version of the series to screen. A special shout out to my incredible team who I have the joy and privilege of working with every single day too. Whatever happens on the 5th of January, I cannot think of a better way to start the year. Javier Bardem, I’m coming for a photograph!”
Jessica Gunning, Baby Reindeer: “Wowza. Words can’t really do justice to how thrilled I am to be nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress — alongside some of my idols as well, no less! I think I might need someone to pinch me to check I’m not dreaming. Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for this incredible honor, to the amazing cast and crew of Baby Reindeer, to Netflix and Clerkenwell Films, to my friends and family for all their support along the way. And a huge thanks of course to Richard, without whom none of this would even be possible. This genuinely is such an incredible honor and I can’t wait to be in LA in January… what a way to kick off 2025! Thank you.”
Debora Cahn, The Diplomat: “We love making this show. Our whole team is phenomenal, and Keri and Allison are national treasures. We’re so happy and honored to be recognized by the Golden Globes!”

We worked on this show for over a decade and the last year of sharing it with everyone has been incredible. It’s such an honor to be nominated with the actresses in this category. Cate, Kate, Jodie, Cristin and Naomi. I have admired all of your work immensely. A huge thank you to everyone on Griselda who brought this story to life — Andres Baiz, Alberto Guerra, Eric Newman, my partner and producer Luis Balaguer, the full cast and crew, Ted Sarandos, Bela Bajaria, and the full Netflix team who championed this project from the start.”
Jamie Foxx, What Had Happened Was…: “Thank you to the Golden Globes for this nomination. This has been a deeply personal journey for me, and to have my story appreciated on this level is incredibly rewarding. I’m grateful to Netflix, my family, my team, and everyone who’s supported me.”
Javier Bardem, Monsters: The Lyle and Erick Menendez Story: “I am very grateful to the Golden Globes voters for this recognition. This nomination extends to everyone included in this powerful show for their exquisite work and artistry in every department. Thank you to Netflix, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan for bringing this challenging and human story to screen.”
Erin Foster, Nobody Wants This: “I can’t explain how exciting it feels for our show to get this kind of recognition. I couldn’t have gotten luckier with this cast, and with the team of writers and producers who all fought to make this happen. I’ve watched the Golden Globes countless times wondering what it would be like to sit in that room, and I can’t believe it will finally happen!! What am I going to wear?! Will Zendaya talk to me?! Will I trip?! Wish me luck!”
Adam Brody, Nobody Wants This: “I’m ecstatic to hear about all the show’s nominations this morning! It’s an absolute joy to work with this phenomenal group of people on something we all care about so much. And it’s beyond gratifying to see that audiences are enjoying it as much as we are!”
Andrew Scott, Ripley: “It was a true honor to bring Patricia Highsmith’s iconic literary character to life in this new way, to spar with the glorious Dakota Fanning and to work with a cast and crew of truly extraordinary talent. Thank you to the Golden Globes; I never dreamed murdering people on the Amalfi coast for a year would be recognized in this way. Grazie Mille.”
Dakota Fanning, Ripley: “What an absolute thrill and honor it is to be nominated for a Golden Globe this morning, alongside such incredible company. The opportunity to be in Ripley, and to play Marge, has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. I am so happy to share this with Steve, every single member of the team behind the scenes, and the brilliant Andrew Scott. My Marge doesn’t exist without his Tom. Thank you so very much!!!!”
Guy Ritchie, The Gentlemen: “It was a uniquely positive experience creating The Gentlemen. Thank you for the nomination. As a team, we’re delighted that the show found such an appreciative audience.”
Hwang Dong-Hyuk, Squid Game: “I feel immensely grateful that my show, yet to-be-released, has been nominated at such a prestigious award ceremony. I poured my everything into this work determined not to let the season one fans down, and I feel so excited and happy that it was the Golden Globes that were the first to recognize my efforts. When you watch season 2, you will notice that the social commentary you’ve found in the first season continues on. I believe the show will provide more food for thought when you try to draw parallels to what’s happening in the current society.”
