Unveiling Taylor Swift’s True Identity: The Intriguing Story Behind Her Pseudonym “Nils Sjoberg” That Few Are Aware Of

The artist will be in Spain this week as part of her tour ‘Eras Tour’

Taylor Swift is the name on everyone’s lips in Spain this week. The American artist will perform at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in the Spanish capital on May 29 and May 30.

Across the two concerts, it is expected that more than 130,000 people will be at Real Madrid’s stadium to witness one of the most anticipated musical spectacles in Spain for a decade.

Many of the American singer’s fans have decided to wait in the vicinity of the Real Madrid stadium, where several areas have been readapted so that merchandising can be purchased at the concert venue.

Swift has been in the spotlight since the age of 14. It’s a name that is linked to success, although the singer’s real name is another story. Her parents decided to register her as Taylor Alison Swift, although the second name was discarded right away. The curious thing is that her first name is inspired by the singer-songwriter James Taylor, one of Boston’s great musicians.

Taylor Swift’s mother explained that she “believed that if she had a gender-neutral name, it would be very helpful to her in forging a business career.” Evidently, she was right, because her career in music has been as good as it could be.

Why did Taylor Swift use the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg?

In 2016, Swift was already an artist recognized on the world stage. At that time, the American was in a relationship with Calvin Harris, who released a song together with Rihanna titled ‘This Is What You Came For’. Curiously, in the credits of this song there was an unknown Swedish composer named Nils Sjöberg.

Four years later, when Swift and Harris had already broken up, the musician revealed in an interview with Paul McCartney in Rolling Stone magazine that she was the one behind the pseudonym. She explained that the names were a combination of the two most popular names in Sweden.

She said: “I think when a pseudonym comes along it’s when you still have love for doing the work and you don’t want it to be overshadowed by what’s been built up around you, based on what people know about you. And that’s when it’s really fun to create fake names and write in your name.”
