The grave-digging Snow White boss comes to life when he sees how disgusting and funny Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot’s versions look

Rachel Zegler in Snow White movie

Disney‘s long-awaited live-action reboot of its 1937 animated classic Snow White doesn’t open until March 21, however, box office forecasts are out on the Rachel Zegler-Gal Gadot starring movie.

Quorum reports a 3-day start for the Marc Webb directed movie of $63M-$70M while other sources believe $65M at this point in time is fair. As a comp, the 2014 Angelina Jolie Sleeping Beauty live-action spinoff opened to $69.4M back in early summer 2014. At that level, it would rep the highest domestic opening for the Golden Globe winning Zegler whose Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes ranks as the actress best opening at the B.O. with $44.6M.

Awareness is solid among women over and under 35. In regards to those who are willing to pay to see the movie in a theater, women under 35 are first, followed by women over 35, and then men under 35 per Quorum.

Per social media stats firm RelishMix, Snow White currently counts a reach of 279M followers with no X or Instagram so far. One video on TikTok has 9.2M boosted views. Currently, Snow White‘s reach on social is 2% above other family live-action movies. Snow White YouTube videos are counting 141M views so far with a strong viral rate of 47:1.

Snow White was originally scheduled to come out on March 22, 2024 before it was pushed an entire year (Oy). Out of the gate during production, Snow White was dogged by headlines over Zegler’s candid statements about the original film. In addition, Peter Dinklage, who isn’t in the movie, called the production “backwards” on the Marc Maron WTF podcast. A Disney spokesperson told Deadline at the time, “To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community. We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period.”

When it comes to Disney’s live-action feature reboots of its animated classics, 2019’s The Lion King ($191.77M) ranks first among domestic weekend openings, even though it doesn’t star live animals. Beauty and the Beast, which actually stars humans, is next with $174.7M.

Disney looks to have the first big opening at the B.O. for 2025 with Captain America: Brave New World next Friday with $85M+ over 3-days.
