The Boys star Colby Minifie has weighed in on what superpowers Ashley might receive in season 5. During the season 4 finale, Homelander had tasked the remaining members of The Seven to eliminate any Vought employees who had any potentially incriminating information against them. However, Vought CEO Ashley Barrett overheard those orders and sought to protect herself by injecting herself with Compound-V. While Ashley’s reaction to the compound appeared extraordinarily painful, it is not clear what superpowers she may potentially receive as a result in The Boys season 5.

Speaking with TVLine, Minifie spoke about her character’s shocking The Boys season 4 finale twist and speculated on what powers Ashley could possess. While she is not yet aware of what abilities the show’s writers will bestow upon her, the actor admitted that she has “so many ideas” about what form they might take. However, each of her ideas involves a degree of humiliation, and she believes Ashley’s new powers will not come easily for her character. Check out her comments below:

They all are humiliating and disgusting, because I think they have to be humiliating for Ashley. Like, she has to, like, hide in a closet to get her power ready somewhere, because it’s not going to be that easy for Ashley. There has to be, like, a bittersweet part of this, I think, but I don’t know what they’re going to choose.

Ashley’s New Superpower Could Potentially Parody One Of Marvel’s Biggest Flops

The Boys Season 5 Might Turn To The Inhumans For Inspiration.

However, Ashley’s excruciating transformation would hint that she will indeed survive the injection, and find herself endowed with a fresh set of superpowers on the other end.

When Minifie’s character rushed to Homelander’s suite to inject herself with Compound-V in TheBoys season 4 finale, she had likely given little forethought about the possible consequences. Given its unpredictable results and notably higher risk of causing death in adults, the serum is rarely given to anyone other than children and infants. However, Ashley’s excruciating transformation would hint that she will indeed survive the injection, and find herself endowed with a fresh set of superpowers on the other end.

Moreover, Ashley’s transformation sequence may have even hinted at what those powers could be, and it could offer The Boys season 5 the perfect opportunity to parody one of Marvel’s biggest flops. During her reaction, Ashley’s wig can be seen falling to the ground while her scalp begins bulging. As a character known for her trichotillomania, or compulsive hair pulling, providing her character with a prehensile hair-based superpower like the Inhumans’ Medusa could be the perfect choice.

Imagery from The BoysThe Boys season 4 leaves a number of important questions unanswered, setting up an explosive and dangerous concluding fifth season.

As Marvel’s lowest-rated television series by far, 2017’s Inhumans is a ripe target for The Boys’ trademark brand of satire. Not only would turning Ashley into a character reminiscent of Serinda Swan’s Medusa would be an ideal way for The Boys season 5 to keep poking fun at the major superhero franchises, but it could also zero in on one of Marvel’s most notable missteps. Furthermore, Ashley’s newfound abilities could also be just as easily taken from her simply by having Homelander shave her head, much like Maximus did to Medusa in the Inhumans.
