Ahead of the 52-year-old rap icon’s gig as torchbearer at the upcoming 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, he spoke to Billboard and named three artists he thinks could compete if rapping was an Olympic sport.

The first rapper on Snoop’s list is Eminem. “Gotta have that global experience. And I would definitely take Rakim. Old school,” he told the outlet. “I would go grab a female. I’d go grab Queen Latifah. Just so that way, I got some royalty.”

Earlier this week, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” performer was selected to be the final torchbearer before the 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony on Friday, July 26. He told Billboard of the gig, “I look at it as a prestigious honor. I would’ve never truly dreamed of something like this. I’ma be on my best behavior. I’ma be on my best athleticism.”

The news was revealed by Mayor of Saint-Denis Mathieu Hanotin, who wrote in a message translated from French on July 26, “Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower. An international cast @SnoopDogg for the last stretch of the Olympic Flame.”

Snoop then shared a post on X featuring a photo of himself in Paris. “U ready? Paris 2024 Olympics ya digggg,” he wrote.

The Grammy winner will also help cover the Olympic Games for NBC, the network recently announced in a press release, writing, “The global megastar will be on site in Paris to provide regular reports for the Olympic Primetime Show beginning July 26, 2024, on NBC and Peacock.”

“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness,” Snoop said in a statement.
