Ryan Reynolds Has One Reason To Believe That Fans Will See Deadpool & Wolverine More Than Once

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman‘s return to their X-Men roles as Deadpool and Wolverine is going to be a rib-tickling adventure ride. Fans familiar with the first two Deadpool movies know that the foul-mouthed superhero has no limits when it comes to mockery and sarcasm. Viewers already got a glimpse of Reynolds and Jackman’s funny bantering in the film’s trailer.

Shawn Levy‘s latest statement in an interview with SFX magazine is an indication of how the film is going to be a laughter festival from start to end. He shared that the film would be deemed a failure if audiences were able to hear the dialogue over all the laughter.

Levy revealed the little “brotherly” arguments he had with Reynolds in the editing room. The director was concerned that the viewers wouldn’t be able to hear some of the lines because they were still laughing at the line that came before. He revealed that Reynolds would win the argument and the funny lines were kept intact.

He shared that Reynolds would say to him that the viewers would have to see the film again to catch the dialogue. Levy shared with SFX (via GamesRadar):

There are some moments in this movie that if you can even hear the dialogue over the laughter, we’ve failed. We went through this in the edit room, when I’m telling Ryan that every time we show a certain scene you can’t hear the three lines because the audience is still laughing at the line that came before. Every time we had this very brotherly debate. Ryan usually won. He’s like, ‘Great, they’ll have to see the movie again!’

It is not just the funny moments that Levy is confident about. He shared there were also moments in the film where the viewers were going to lose their minds “ten billion times.” Levy’s statements are sure to hype up the film for the Marvel and Deadpool fans.

Shawn Levy Says Deadpool & Wolverine Will Be Different From Recent MCU Movies In One Aspect

During a cover story for EW, Shawn Levy was asked about the story of the film. The Adam Project director shared that the film’s story will be like the earlier Marvel films. He shared that Deadpool & Wolverine will be a character-driven story like the earlier MCU films where“the character stakes are more important than the global MCU stakes.”

While the film will have numerous cameos from the old X-Men movies and the current MCU films, they will not pose a problem to the character-driven story. Levy shared with EW:

We didn’t want any of the cameos or characters to be the story of the movie. But they are peppered in throughout.

Deadpool & Wolverine will explore Reynolds and Jackman’s characters reluctantly teaming up for a multiverse-saving mission. Besides Wade Wilson and Logan, the story will also focus on a unique Marvel villain, Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin.
