The Boys season 4 finale is almost here, and while it’s promising an exciting end to its current storyline, the show can’t afford to waste one of its big Gen V connections before the end. The biggest focus of the back half of The Boys season 4 has been a Supe virus that Butcher and the team want to use to kill both Homelander and Victoria. The Supe virus was introduced in Gen V, with the core characters of the show trying to stop Godolkin University’s creation of the illness.
However, Gen V season 1 ended with a Supe uprising at the school, which the main heroes were blamed for. This resulted in the virus getting into the Boys’ hands, setting the stage for season 4, and perhaps even The Boys season 5. However, another element of the spinoff was also featured in the latest season of the main show. This direct connection to Gen V is something that should return in the season 4 finale, helping to make the shows even more connected to one another.
Sam & Cate Need To Show Up Again In The Boys Season 4 Finale
The Pair Have Only Shown Up Once In The Boys So Far
Sam and Cate, the characters responsible for the Supe uprising at Godolkin in Gen V, made their debut in The Boys season 4, episode 5. They are introduced as loyal to Homelander, going along with his plan of superpowered people dominating the world. While they didn’t get much of a chance to shine in the episode, their appearance hints at just how strongly connected both series are going to be from now on. However, it also implied they’ll have a bigger role in The Boys at some point in the future.
The best time to illustrate their importance on The Boys‘ cast is during the season 4 finale. Their singular appearance in the main show so far may have given them a small role to play, but by bringing them back in the final episode, it can further cement their importance in the franchise. This could be through a small cameo alongside Homelander, to them fighting the Boys during a key battle. Any of these possibilities would be the perfect way to showcase their varied importance.
How Sam & Cate Can Set Up Gen V Season 2 In The Boys
They Could Hint At Where Marie & Her Friends Are
In addition to their loyalty to the leader of the Seven, Sam and Cate can help set the stage for Gen V season 2 within The Boys season 4 finale. Their presence could offer clues as to where Marie and her friends are at the end of season 1, revealing what happened after Homelander seemingly zapped her with his heat vision. The Boys‘ main antagonist could also entrust them with a new mission, something that sets the stage for just how dangerous they’re going to become when Gen V returns.
Now that The Boys season 4 is almost over, it would make sense to bring back Sam and Cate one last time to establish their importance within Homelander’s plans. This return would also be the perfect way to set up Gen V season 2, providing hints about the other Godolkin students’ whereabouts in the process. The duo can also prove just how dangerous they are across both shows, making themselves all the more intimidating for every hero in the franchise.
The Boys season 4 has one episode left, “Assassination Run,” which arrives on Prime Video on Thursday, July 18.
